Cynthia Lupina’s time with Clio Area Schools has been filled with dedication, growth, and meaningful connections, and we congratulate her on her well-earned retirement.
Cynthia began her journey in 2002 at Edgerton Elementary in the Connections program. She then spent over a decade working in the Edgerton library before transitioning into a secretary role, first at Edgerton, then at Clio Intermediate School, and most recently at Clio Middle School. Through each role, Cynthia brought consistency, care, and a strong commitment to supporting students and staff.

Her impact did not go unnoticed, Cynthia was honored with the Good Apple Award in both 2015 and 2024, a reflection of the appreciation and respect she earned throughout her career.

Cynthia often shares how fortunate she feels to have worked alongside so many wonderful colleagues, expressing deep gratitude for the relationships and experiences she gained over the years.

Thank you, Cynthia, for your years of service, dedication, and the positive impact you’ve made across Clio Area Schools. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter!

Tom Elliott’s time at Clio Area Schools has come full circle, and we celebrate his 36 years of dedication to our students and community.

Tom spent his career connecting with students in many ways, teaching U.S. History, World History, Current Events, Law, 7th grade Science, and Health, while also serving as a union representative. No matter the role, he always showed up ready to support students and colleagues alike.

Outside the classroom, Tom made a lasting impact through coaching Track and Field, Cross Country, and JV Girls Basketball. A highlight of his career was leading the boys Track and Field team to its first Regional Championship in 58 years and helping the program qualify for the MITCA Team State Championships for the first time. He also coached many state qualifiers and All-State athletes along the way.

As a Clio graduate, Tom took great pride in coming back to his alma mater to teach and coach. He worked to share his love of history and running with his students, just as his own teachers once inspired him.

Thank you, Tom, for your dedication, heart, and 36 years of service to Clio. Wishing you all the best in this next chapter!

As we close out the school year, Clio Area Schools would like to begin recognizing and honoring our retirees for their years of service, leadership, and dedication to students, staff, and the communities they have served.

Scott Williams is retiring after an incredible 32-year career in education. His journey began at St. Robert’s in Flushing before he spent seven years teaching math, science, reading, and health at Clio Middle School. Throughout his career, Scott served in several leadership roles, including assistant principal and athletic director at Lake Fenton High School, principal at Bendle Middle School and Bendle High School, superintendent and 7-12 principal at Morrice Area Schools, middle school principal at LakeVille, and most recently, principal at Clio High School for the past three years.

Scott also coached in Clio for 17 years, creating lasting relationships and memories with student-athletes along the way. Throughout his career, he valued teamwork, learning from those around him, and supporting students both in the classroom and through extracurricular opportunities.

Scott credits much of his career to the support of his wife, Julie, and their four daughters: Paige, MacKenzie, Jenna, and Baylie, whose love, patience, and encouragement were with him every step of the way.

Thank you, Scott, for your years of leadership, dedication, and commitment to education. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
