Clio Area Schools will be asking voters to consider a bond to improve, consolidate and upgrade district facilities on May 5, 2020. The decision to put a bond before voters was made following more than a year of seeking public input, conducting a thorough study of all district facilities through an outside consultant, compiling enrollment projections, and visiting similar districts across the state. Then, several options were studied carefully by the Board of Education and staff before the one being presented to voters was finalized, all the while keeping in mind what the more than 600 respondents to a community-wide survey said they would support and should be included in the bond.
The bond targets these areas:
- Right-sizing and consolidating the district in the face of declining enrollment
- Upgrading technology and adding STEM labs at the middle and high schools
- Security and safety upgrades
- HVAC additions and improvements across the district
- Athletic facilities upgrade
