Accreditation is a process through which the staff, district personnel and Board of Education commit to meet a set of preconditions or standards necessary for a quality education. Garner Elementary School has been awarded North Central Accreditation. North Central is a regional accrediting association that monitors schools across the nation. Schools earn and maintain accreditation by meeting or exceeding a set of standards that are prescribed for the elementary school level and by committing to a plan of continuous effort that concentrates on improvement of student performance. The State of Michigan awards accreditation status on three levels based on a school's MEAP scores. Summary Accredited Schools meet all the standards for accreditation. Interim Accredited Schools do not meet all the standards but are making progress towards meeting those standards. Unaccredited Schools do not meet all the standards for summary accreditation and are not making progress toward meeting those standards. Garner Elementary School has been awarded Interim Accreditation from the State of Michigan.
